Taser Standoff Uncovers Concealed Gun at Bedford "Studio" Party; Suspects Scatter Under Decks at Chronic Nuisance Apartment

Taser Standoff Uncovers Concealed Gun at Bedford "Studio" Party; Suspects Scatter Under Decks at Chronic Nuisance Apartment

A chaotic late-night disturbance at an apartment notorious for chronic police runs resulted in multiple arrests, a foot pursuit through city alleys, and a tense confrontation where an intoxicated host had to be held at taser-point before admitting he was reaching for a loaded firearm.

Christian A. Johnson, 24, and Cameron Fischman, 20, both of Bedford, were arrested early Wednesday morning, September 23, 2026, by the Bedford Police Department.

Midnight Screams and an Immediate Scatter

At approximately 12:15 a.m., Bedford police responded to 824 17th Street following reports of screaming and an active domestic disturbance. Responding officers were well acquainted with the residence, having been flagged down for an ongoing domestic at the same unit less than 24 hours prior.

Upon arrival, officers heard loud music and yelling from inside. When an officer knocked, an occupant parted the window curtains, announced to the room that law enforcement was at the door, and closed the curtains as partygoers scrambled toward the back of the apartment. Outside, officers confronted several individuals lingering on the rear deck and ordered them not to run.

Crossbody Bag Taser Standoff

Christian Johnson exited the apartment visibly intoxicated, unsteady on his feet, slurring his words, and wearing an unzipped black crossbody bag across his chest. Johnson immediately became aggressive, argued with officers, and blurted out unprompted that there were "no minors" inside—referencing his extensive history of hosting underage drinking parties.

As officers attempted to detain him, Johnson began physically fighting back. Officers took Johnson to the ground, where he aggressively and repeatedly forced his hands toward the front of his unzipped chest bag, ignoring verbal commands.

An officer pressed a Taser directly against Johnson's chest to deliver a drive stun. At that point, Johnson surrendered and confessed that there was a loaded handgun inside the crossbody bag he was actively fighting to reach.

The "Studio" Alibi and Hired Bouncers

While securing the apartment, officers encountered a bizarre scene:

  • The "Studio": Multiple partygoers claimed they did not know Johnson and insisted they were only visiting "for the studio," pointing to a lone microphone set up in the living room.
  • Hired Security: Two men inside admitted they had been paid by Johnson to act as private security and "check IDs" at the door, calling it an "easy gig."
  • Underage Intoxication: Officers found a heavily intoxicated 17-year-old female hiding under the rear deck who blew a 0.195% BrAC and gave a false name and age. In the bathroom, police discovered 20-year-old Jeremiah Boyce hiding; Boyce, who is already out on felony bond in Monroe County, blew a 0.222% BrAC and was taken to IU Health Bedford for medical clearance before being jailed.
  • Fight & Gun Call: Dispatch received a simultaneous 911 call from a pedestrian reporting that a male known as "Gabe" had brandished a handgun during a street fight outside the apartment before fleeing.

Alley Chase, Crawling Under Decks, and Fischman's Capture

During the initial perimeter sweep, Sergeant Nick Crulo and Major Emmons spotted two males running through an alley behind the building. Officers ordered them to stop; one surrendered on scene, while Cameron Fischman fled into the surrounding neighborhood and evaded officers.

Shortly after clearing the initial call, a nearby homeowner on 18th Street contacted police after checking his home surveillance cameras and watching footage of Fischman crawling out from underneath his back deck.

Major Emmons and Officer Ratcliff returned to Johnson's apartment to see if Fischman had looped back. When officers knocked, Fischman peeked out through the curtain. After being surrounded and given loud verbal commands, Fischman surrendered on the floor and was taken into custody.

26 Police Calls Since May

According to the sworn affidavit, the Bedford Police Department has logged 26 calls for service involving Christian Johnson since May 2026, predominantly centered around his apartment. Past incidents documented by officers include:

  • Recovering a runaway juvenile from the residence
